The Ewart, Bedford Square, Belfast (£55m)

BREEAM New Construction, SBEM, EPC, Thermal Comfort, LZC Report

Situated opposite to the newly iconic Grand Central Hotel, The Ewart is a 17-storey development providing Grade A office space for the city centre. Originally the Bedford Street Weaving Factory in the late 1800’s before it was bought by William Ewart to become the William Ewart & Son Ltd head office and warehouse, the listed building now forms part of the grand scheme, connecting via two floors to the modern glazed tower block.

With close links to Great Victoria Street bus and train station, and a short walk from Belfast City Hall, the development is in a prime location to make it an ideal working hub. Staff amenities are at the heart of the design, with cycle storage, staff-focused wellbeing facilities and high-tech security provisions all gathered around an accessible courtyard.

Predicted BREEAM ‘Excellent’ at design stage, the provision of 213,00sq ft office space with a capacity for over 2000 employees cemented the Ewart as a stylish-yet-functional landmark addition to the Belfast skyline.
